Officer Cory Masterson was wounded in an ambush and rendered unconscious. His dog, Reno, defended him from an armed attacker and guided reinforcements to him, saving his life.
Cory fell into a coma, and Reno faithfully waited by his side for months. One day, Reno detected the first signs of recovery before the doctors did.

Some time later, Cory collapsed and was pronounced dead. Reno refused to leave, barking and blocking everyone out. Just as they were carrying him away, Cory came back to life thanks to the rare “Lazarus Effect.” Reno had felt the spark of life that no one else had.
